About

Cinéma sous les étoiles

For the sixth year in a row, the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM), in partnership with the Alliance Française du Manitoba, Cinémental, and Freeze Frame, presents Cinéma sous les étoiles (Movies Under the Stars) from June 6 to August 29. Cinéma sous les étoiles offers free outdoor screenings of French-language films with English subtitles at the St. Boniface Cathedral ruins. We are grateful for the support of our partners, without whose help the event could not take place: the St. Boniface Cathedral, la Société de la Francophonie Manitobaine, la Société Francophone du Mabitoba, SFM 233-ALLO, L’Institut français, la FPFM, La Liberté, Envol 91 FM, and Heritage Canada funding support.

Just like last year, this edition of Cinéma sous les étoiles is part of Jeudis Franco Thursdays, which celebrates St. Boniface as the hub for arts and culture every Thursday this summer!

Theme nights will also be featured as part of Cinéma sous les étoiles this summer, including  the TCM night on June 20th which will offer free theatrical activities for young people,  Francommunauté night on July 4 presented by the Alliance Française du Manitoba with the screening of “Astérix et Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre” and the Blues Blanc Rouge event of the Alliance Française du Manitoba on July 11 with the movie “Qu’est-ce qu’on a tous fait au bon dieu?”.  Also the movies “Le grand méchant renard et autres contes” will be presented by la FPFM (Fédération des Parents du Manotiba) on July 25 and “Un été sans point ni coup sûr” will be presented by Radio Envol 91FM on August 22th.
